Here are some little thoughts...
I was thinking about the violent scenes in the film. Maybe that is about sensation and the contrast of love and pain.
A very cool shot is of Michelle and Alex on the horse statue, shooting the gun like war heroes. when alex is walking and shooting, he looks like such a tough guy, almost John Wayne.
The gun scenes make me think of some of the French films of the '60s and '70s that, I think, were parodies of the American, gangster, film noir. I did not do well in French film during college - it was too complex for me. Was this Trouffout or Goddard? Alphaville?
When Michelle and Alex drug the people and steal their money, all of the people are men?
